Snapchat is an application for instantly sharing photos and videos with friends. The application was developed by Stanford University students: Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown. In the United States, it is the leader among youth messengers.
The bright yellow application icon has won the trust of the younger generation. The main page of Snapchat is occupied by a camera and an abundance of tools, masks to create the perfect "snap". At the bottom of the screen, there is a media library with masks. Snapchat users can edit photos and videos by adding stickers, typography, own elements.
The free application is installed on various brands of Android and iOS smartphones. In order to choose a mask, you need to pile it to the side with one touch and test it on your own image. Users can use filters and masks from the community or create personal ones. In Snapchat, there are video chats with a capacity of up to 16 people. To share snapshots, you can set a timer to view the sent "snap" from 1 to 10 seconds. After viewing the material is hidden from the recipient's chat, but stored in the Snapchat server. Young people use Snapchat as a dating platform due to geolocation options, viewing "stories", exchanging "Friend Moji" etc. There is also a feature to add a nickname and snapcode friends.
Low Crime Statistics Thanks to Snapchat
The application is available for independent use from 12+ years old. The first launch of Snapchat is accompanied by requests for access to personal data, camera, gallery, and contacts. Snapchat takes care of users' privacy and security, but a case of data leakage has surfaced on the network. Employees have access to geolocation data, phone numbers, and saved user snapshots using the built-in SnapLion tool. The tool was created to provide information upon request to the police and court.
